Elisabeth Hovdhaugen

Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU)

Elisabeth Hovdhaugen is a research professor at Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU) in Oslo, Norway. She has over 20 years of experience in educational research and holds a PhD in Sociology from University of Oslo.

Her research interest has mainly circled around students: on retention, completion and dropout in upper secondary education and higher education, time use and working while studying, grades and study progression, student satisfaction and learning outcomes. She has also worked with international student mobility, particularly on Norwegian students taking a full degree abroad. She is currently PI on a project funded by the Norwegian Research Council on use of incentives in higher education (student funding).
