Simon Marginson receives prestigious excellence award
Simon Marginson, Emeritus Professor of Higher Education at the Department of Education, has received the Vision and Leadership Award from the European Association for International Education (EAIE).
The EAIE Awards celebrate excellence and give thanks to organisations and individuals who have made concrete steps towards bettering the landscape of internationalisation in Europe and beyond.
Joining the ranks of over 80 individuals and organisations who have a proven track record of celebrating excellence, Simon’s award is a recognition for his dedication to leadership within the higher education sector.
As founder and leader of the ESRC Centre for Global Higher Education, his advocacy for higher education’s contributions to the public and common good have significantly elevated the collective understanding of the dynamics of higher education in today’s world.
Simon said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this award. I am also surprised, because there are many people doing really great work in higher education in sustaining open borders and fruitful cooperation. In today’s challenging times, our shared commitment to collaborative learning and knowledge building, on the basis of equality of respect and unity in diversity, is more important than ever!”
The award presentation will take place in Toulouse in September.
