CGHE Webinar 72

Graduate jobs and graduate wages across Europe in the 21st century

Date: Thursday, 15 February 2018 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: Committee Room 1, UCL Institute of Education

Following the ubiquitous mass expansion of higher education enrolment, Europe’s labour markets are experiencing an unprecedented supply of tertiary-level graduates.

While these graduates continue to enjoy an average earnings premium when compared with their less educated counterparts, the questions as to whether the demand for graduate labour keeps up with the rising supplies of graduates and whether the premiums for graduates are becoming more varied are becoming increasingly important.

In this presentation, Professor Green and Dr Henseke will review recent research that examines graduate labour markets across countries through the lens of the concept of a ‘graduate job’.

They will draw a comparison between the trajectories of the German and British graduate labour markets in the 21st century. They will then present preliminary new research examining trends across Europe in the dispersion of wages among graduates.
