New internationalisation drive amid geopolitical shifts in Hong Kong

Professor Ka Ho Mok, Deputy Director of CGHE shares with University World News on how the Chinese government drives internationalization through Hong Kong’s quest for becoming a leading international higher education hub in Asia amid geopolitical shifts.

Mok comments that Hong Kong, being an international city in Asia, together with highly ranked universities in the region, aspires to attract more students and talents from around the world to choose to study and stay to work in the city. Realizing the growing impact of geo-politics not only on economy but social and cultural development, Mok considers the unique role of Hong Kong is to further enhance its international connections,  promoting meaningful and effective communications between Hong Kong and the rest of the world. Through the window of Hong Kong, Mok is confident internationalization of higher education would lead to better cross-cultural understanding.
