Gemma Derrick
Gemma Derrick is Associate Professor (Research Policy & Culture) at The University of Bristol and a CGHE Co-Investigator on CGHE Project 3, ‘Research on Research: the research function and mission of higher education’.
Her research focuses on research evaluation, the dynamics of knowledge production and how researchers create, conform and participate in evaluative cultures within academia. She is currently working on the interplay of research culture with principles of equity and social justice, with a focus on peer review, and how this influences research productivity and societal outcomes, in relation to the ‘research kindness’ agenda.
Gemma is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the open access journal, Publications, and works collaboratively with funding agencies, such as The Wellcome Trust, Research Council of Norway (Forskningsradet), as well as government research agencies (Research England, Australian Research Council) on aspects of research governance and evaluation.
