Speaker(s):
  • Stéphan Vincent-Lancrin, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

Overview

In many OECD countries, higher education policy discussions focus on students? learning experience and question whether current teaching models in higher education are appropriate to prepare students for new jobs.

St?phan will present some reflections about how higher education systems in OECD countries prepare or could prepare university students for innovation and will provide an overview of recent OECD research and ongoing projects.

The presentation will show how qualifications and tertiary degrees relate to different types of innovation, and identify the skills used by tertiary graduates in innovative jobs. He will then reflect on the possible links between pedagogies and the acquisition of these skills and present some new institutional approaches geared towards the development of innovation skills. Finally, he will propose some action research approaches to develop and assess two key skills for innovation: creativity and critical thinking.
