CGHE’s Paul Ashwin wins Wonkhe blog award
Blog based on CGHE conference keynote came out on top
CGHE’s Paul Ashwin has won the Student Outcomes and Employment Category at the Wonkhe Awards for his blog ‘Knowledge is power: the purpose of quality teaching’.
The blog, which was posted in June this year, reflects the view of high quality teaching that underpins the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) metrics and how this creates a misleading view of the nature of high quality of university teaching.
It was based on Professor Ashwin keynote at the 2019 CGHE conference. You can watch the entire keynote here and read the transcript of the keynote here.
Professor Ashwin is a Co-Investigator on CGHE’s global higher education engagement research programme and leads CGHE’s local higher education engagement research programme.
The ideas discussed in the blog are developed further in Professor Ashwin’s forthcoming book Transforming University Education: a manifesto.
